Busking Competition Rules & Regulations 


  • Entries to the busking competition must be received by the closing date of March 2nd 2020

  • Registration form online must be completed with a photo, short bio (200 words or less) with either an audio or video recording

  • Competitors should be aged 14 or over at the time of the festival.

  • Once the competitor limit is reached, no other entries will be accepted

  • Only Registered entrants can compete in the competition

  • Each performer/act must send proof of public liability insurance or completed a Buskers Competition Indemnity Form accessed here

  • By applying to take part in the festival all applicants consent to photographs being taken of their performances at any part of the event and grant the Fingal International Festival of Voices the right to use them for promotional material in the future


Competition Day 

  • Buskers must be available on Saturday March 14 from 12pm-6pm

  • All performers must register at the Irish Institute of Music & Song, Balbriggan at 12pm on Saturday March 14 to receive their competitor number and schedule

  • Due to the nature of the festival, the organisers reserve the right to exclude any performances that may be deemed offensive or unsuitable to a general audience

  • Acts will ensure that their competitor number is visible at all times

  • No voice enhancement equipment or recorded backing music or recorded backing singers is allowed

  • The Festival reserves the right to change the performance locations e.g. if weather necessitates

  • A basic PA system will be provided at each location. (1 microphone with optional XLR/1/4 inch jack inputs

  • Each busker is allowed a 5 min setup/15 min busking performance and 5 minutes to exit the busking stage with instruments & equipment

  • Each performer/act must be  ready to start in the correct location at the time allocated


  • Performers are allowed keep any money made while busking at the official locations



  • By participating in the Festival, performers agree to abide by all rules and regulations of the Festival.

  • The Festival timetable is subject to change

  • Decisions of the adjudicators are considered final

  • The Artistic Committee reserves the right to cancel individual competitions, or the Festival, if the appropriate number of entries are not met

  • Entry fees are non-refundable, except to acts who are not selected for competition

  • All participating acts will receive free entry to all events of the Festival
